A new way to store your things: pack at home, schedule pickup through an app, and have them delivered back whenever you need, whether it’s a few items or everything at once. This innovative service has been created by Hanken student Axel Aarnio and his co-founder Mikael Mauranen, in collaboration with Posti and Hanken Business Lab.

How is AI transforming the way we work, lead and collaborate? And how can AI-based methods be used not just to boost productivity but to strengthen the human and social capabilities of organisational life? These are the central questions driving a new research project led by Hanken School of Economics and Aalto University, funded by Business Finland.

Info sessions are held for bachelor’s students in their second year and above who, according to their study plan, will go on exchange during the autumn semester 2026. Separate sessions are also held for students interested in exchange on master’s level.

The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was awarded this year to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt for their research on how innovations emerge and how they influence economic growth. Hanken professor Ari Hyytinen has collaborated with Philippe Aghion, Collège de France, on several occasions.
Hackathon 2025

Students and tech enthusiasts gathered at Hanken from 9–11 October 2025 to take part in the Quantum x AI Hackathon. During the event, organised in collaboration with Ultrahack, participants developed tools that converged artificial intelligence, quantum computing, portfolio optimisation, and cybersecurity to shape the future of finance.

Professor Vlad Vaiman from the School of Management of California Lutheran University in the USA is visiting Hanken during autumn (Nov-Dec) and spring (March-April) as a Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Business and Economics. He will be working at the Department of Management and Organisation.

Hanken alum Axel Anderson was awarded the Hugo Fredriksson Memorial Award of 1,700 euros at the Alumni celebration on 3 October 2025. The award is presented annually to a newly graduated Hanken student who has shown excellent academic performance and active engagement for the School.

Hanken offers students the opportunity to participate in the ENGAGE.EU Winter Schools, which are organized in January and February 2026 by NHH, University of Mannheim and WU Vienna. Application deadline is 15 Oct 2025. Students can apply to multiple Winter Schools but can only be offered a spot at one.

The Fazer Award is given every other year to a Master’s student who has demonstrated good study performance and highlights or works actively on issues related to equality, the environment and sustainable development, transparency or social issues. The application deadline is 31 October 2025.

According to a national survey conducted annually, alumni of Hanken School of Economics score highly on employability and they are satisfied with both their studies and their career development. This year’s survey opens on 1 October 2025 and we hope to once again receive a great number of responses!
