Attachments

When you fill out the application form you will be requested to submit attachments. If you do not attach them, your application will not be processed further. Only submit the requested attachments, no other attachments will be considered. Submit the attachments as high-quality scanned PDF-files. The information on this page does not apply to the Double Degree programme with Umeå University.

 

1. Degree Certificate (incl. Diploma Supplement)

  • Submit your degree certificate and possible Diploma Supplement for the degree based on which you are applying.
    • A degree certificate is a document issued by an institution to a student who has successfully completed all studies included in the degree and graduated.
  • If you have a degree from Finland, you can upload your My Studyinfo-link instead of submitting a degree certificate, a transcript of records or Diploma Supplement.
  • If you have not yet received your final degree certificate, but hold a temporary (provisional) degree certificate, submit the temporary degree certificate instead. Read the requirements for a temporary degree certificate in this case (under section: documents to deliver)
  • You can add several degrees, but you must indicate which degree based on you are applying.
  • If your degree is a double/triple/transnational degree, submit all educational documents from the different institution and an explanation on how the studies are connected if it is not stated in the educational documents.
  • If you have not yet graduated at the time of applying, you do not need to submit your degree certificate with your application. However, read more about applying based on an incomplete degree.  

 

2. Transcript of records

  • Upload your official transcript of records (including course tiles, credits,grades, grading scale) for the degree based on which you are applying and other transcripts covering studies you wish to be considered in the evaluation of your educational background.
  • Only courses which are listed on an official transcript of records, can be taken into consideration in the evaluation. 
  • If you are applying in Admission Group 1, the GPA should be visible on the transcript of records, degree certificate or on a separate certificate issued by the degree-awarding institution.
  • If you have transferred credits without specified grades (e.g. from an exchange semester) included in your degree transcript, we recommend that you also attach a transcript to the application where the grades are visible for the credits to be considered in the evaluation.

 

2. Official translations of educational documents

  • If your educational documents are issued in a language other than English, Finnish or Swedish, submit official translations of the documents to one of these languages.
  • An official translation must be one of the following:
    • Issued by the awarding institution,
    • an officially certified copy of a translation issued by the awarding institution,
    • translated by an official translator (original document), or
    • an officially certified copy of a translation made by an official translator.
  • Each page of the official translation must bear the translator’s stamp and/or signature. Official translations must be exact translations of the original documents. Translations done by the applicant themselves are not accepted.

 

3. GMAT/GRE score report or GPA Certificate

  • Submit a GMAT or GRE score report with sufficient test result scores if you belong to Admission group 2. A screenshot of the result is also acceptable to upload with your application if you did not receive an official test taker's copy of the result.
  • Also remember to share the test result with Hanken following the instructions in the section "taking the GMAT or GRE test".
  • If you belong to Admission group 1 and your GPA is not stated on your regular educational documents, upload a separate GPA certificate if available.

 

5. Certificate of language proficiency

  • Submit a certificate or test score report which prove that you meet the language requirements.
  • If you prove your language proficiency through a language test, also remember to share your test result with Hanken as instructed in the section "taking a language test".

 

10. CV in English (for Main admission only)

  • Submit a CV written in English which is 1–2 pages. The format is otherwise free. 
  • The main purpose of the CV is providing a timeline as support in the academic evaluation but is a mandatory application enclosure for all applicants. 
  • All application documents are public information, so please do not include sensitive information such as information on health conditions, religious and political affiliation, union membership, relationship status, assets etc.  

 

7. Copy of passport/EU national identity card

  • Submit a copy of your valid passport or EU national identity card.This is not required of Finnish citizens.

 

8. Copy of residence permit

  • Submit a copy of your residence permit (both sides of the card) if it exempts you from tuition fees.

 

If you are a refugee or asylum seeker or have a refugee-like status in Finland and cannot prove your eligibility for higher education by documentation, you can still apply for admission. 

You are required to provide reliable explanation of the qualification that gives you eligibility to apply, additional information on the lack of requisite documentation as well as an official decision on your refugee status (decision on being granted asylum or a residence permit based on need for international protection or a certificate of a pending application for asylum). You must submit a copy of this decision to the Admission Services before the deadline for submitting application attachments has ended. You must also apply like all other applicants and prove you fulfill the language requirement for admission and attend required tests. We can also request the applicant to attend an entrance exam or similar. The university will determine the applicant’s eligibility based on the additional information provided by the applicant.
