New business network – FIKSA – will strengthen the community among Swedish-speaking Finns in Stockholm

Stockholm
Thousands of Swedish-speaking Finns are active in Stockholm's business life. However, many of them don’t know about each other, even though a good network in this community would make it easier to cope with the competition in the city and also support Finnish companies to establish themselves there. This is something that the new network FIKSA – Finnish Contacts in Stockholm's Business Life aims to offer.

The initiator of the network is Jan Sten, Director of Hanken Business Lab in Vaasa.

“There is great potential among the Swedish-speaking Finns in Stockholm that is currently not fully utilised. This group is also constantly growing – hundreds of Finns move to Stockholm annually.”

According to Sten, the Finnish population in Stockholm is characterised by the fact that it forms groups around industries, study background and perhaps which region they came from in Finland.

“The contacts between these groups could be better. We hope that FIKSA will help to strengthen them”.

Sten has discussed with 30–40 Swedish-speaking Finns in Stockholm's business community who have confirmed that there is a need for a network such as FIKSA. Before the end of the year, he will visit Stockholm several times to meet potential partners.

FIKSA is open to all Finns who speak Swedish and who are active in business life in Stockholm. Those who want to participate in the network can already join it in the FIKSALinkedIN group. The first meeting is planned to be held in the beginning of the year.

“For Finnish companies, Swedish-speaking Finns are an enormous resource – it is easier to network with Swedes if you already know Swedish. And keep in mind that Stockholm is mostly only an hour away,” Sten states.
