Hanken part of strategic research project

Hanken is part of a research consortium that received strategic research funding from the Academy of Finland.

Within the CORE-project (Collaborative remedies for fragmented societies - facilitating the collaborative turn in environmental decision-making) the University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä, Tampere University of Technology and Hanken are collaborating with the Finnish Environment Institute.

The aim is to explore how well the Finnish political system to copes with complex environmental planning and policy problems in fragmented 'post-truth' societies. CORE will combine interdisciplinary expertise and work in close collaboration with stakeholders and civil society actors.

Hanken is responsible for the sub-project called Value creation between business and society. Associate Professor Pia Polsa leads the project and works in close collaboration with Tampere University of Technology.

-We look forward to collaborating with many universities and organisations, both in Finland and abroad, to find a solution to environmental issues through cooperation. This opens opportunities for new ways of collaboration and we hope that the results will impact society, says Pia Polsa.

The consortium leader is Professor Lasse Peltonen from the University of Eastern Finland and Heli Saarikoski from the Finnish Environment Institute. The total funding is four million euro and Hanken’s share of that is roughly 200 000 euro.
