Hanken even more popular again this year

Hanken School of Economics’ Bachelor's Programme in Swedish received 2488 applications (2023: 2148), 1680 to Helsinki (2023: 1410) and 808 to Vaasa (2023: 738) in the joint application that closed on 27.3.2024.

"We are pleased to note the large number of applications for our Bachelor's Programme in Swedish. The new Bachelor in Business programme in English received 1337 applications earlier this year. The good reputation of Hanken and the excellent employment rate of our graduates are certainly part of the reason for the great interest in both our Bachelor's programmes", says Linda Gerkman, director at Hanken.

In recent years, about 20% of the students admitted to the Bachelor's Programme in Swedish have had Finnish as their native language.

"We see this as a great opportunity to foster Swedish-speaking graduates into the labour market and offer these students support and language training in Swedish during their first years. The interest among students from Sweden seems to be as strong as last year. The application period for them runs until mid-April," says Ida Borgar, Head of Student Admissions.

Applications to Hanken's Master's programme in English also broke an all-time record earlier this year with 1738 applicants. The doctoral programme has also been popular and this year 22 doctoral researchers were admitted out of a total of 174 applicants.

The application numbers in this article are preliminary.
