Exchange students commend the Student Union at Hanken
The Student Union received credit for the extensive programme they organise for the exchange students. Especially the sports activities and trips to Stockholm, Tallinn, St. Petersburg and Lapland are appreciated.
The large majority of the students were satisfied with the course offer, their own learning, teaching and assessment methods. They also appreciated the services of the International Office in both Helsinki and Vaasa. However, the survey also pinpointed development areas. The contact to local students and integration in class are clearly areas that need to be improved. Housing also seems to be a challenge, especially in Vaasa, where the standard and location of the apartments didn’t meet the students expectations.
The exchange student survey is sent out twice per year. In this round the majority of the respondents came from Europe and Asia.
The number of incoming and outgoing students have increased over the last years. During 2017 Hanken hosted 172 incoming students and 214 Hanken students studied abroad along with 51 doing an internship abroad.
