Alexander Silén awarded this year's Anders Wall scholarship
Silén, who will soon take his master's degree in economics with management and organization as his major, is one of the founders of Mobal.io. The company is a market-leading Google Business company that offers other companies the opportunity to manage their local presence on Google from one place.
The growth company already has 26 full-time employees and over 250 customers around the Nordic region, and in 2021 had sales of approximately 370,000 euros. The company recently received 2 million euros in venture capital for its continued international expansion.
- Our goal is to become a world leader in local marketing through revolutionary technology and first-class customer service, says Silén.
Already in 2016 during his first year at Hanken, Silén founded the company CaterMate, a serving company that currently has 60 waiters employed in three different cities and which continues to grow. Sales in 2021 amounted to 250,000 euros. The ambition is now to expand the business to more European cities by developing a unique technology around the training of serving staff and a scalable concept.
Silén believes that two factors have been decisive for his successful business:
- First of all, I am not afraid of failure, he says. That attitude has helped me start companies and go for it, without being broken by the negative outcomes and consequences it can have. Secondly, entrepreneurship has given me the opportunity to surround myself every day with people I enjoy and am inspired by. There are always a thousand arguments for why you should not start a company, but for me one good reason is enough to take the chance.
