Hanken School of Economics' master's programme is ranked 46th in this year's edition of the Financial Times Masters in Management ranking. This is Hanken's best result in the ranking ever. The Financial Times annually ranks the best master’s programmes world-wide.

At its meeting on 19 April 2023, Hanken School of Economic's Board appointed Gyöngyi Kovács, Mika Gabrielsson and Sören Kock as new deans. In addition to this, the Board has decided to launch a new bachelor's programme in English, in parallel with the traditional bachelor's degree programme in Swedish. The first admission will take place in 2024.

Hanken’s Bachelor degree in Swedish in Vaasa has attracted a record number of applicants this year. In the joint application in spring 2023, a total of 739 applications was submitted to Hanken in Vaasa.

The fundraising campaign Count on Hanken at Hanken School of Economics ended 30 June 2022. The campaign got support from a total of 691 private persons, organisations and foundations who together donated 6,6 million euro to Hanken. The raised funds will be matched by the government and strengthens Hanken’s basic capital.

The Swedish foundation Marianne and Marcus Wallenbergs Foundation donates SEK 10 million to Hanken. One-fifth of the donation is included in the Cound on Hanken campaign and is thus included in the government matching.

The rector of Hanken School of Economics handed over the assignment as rector to Professor Ingmar Björkman at a ceremony on Wednesday 22 June.

The Board of Hanken School of Economics has on 25 May 2022 appointed Professor Ingmar Björkman as Hanken’s new rector. Professor Björkman will take office on 1 August 2022 and the term of office is five years.

This year’s Fazer Award goes to Simone Falck. The award is worth 15,000 euros and is awarded to a Hanken student with strong values and good achievements.

The BI Norwegian Business School has appointed the Rector of Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki to its new Rector as of 1 August 2022.

Christoph Vitzthum has been elected chair for the new Board of Hanken School of Economics. Vitzthum was elected during the Board’s statutory meeting on 14 January 2022. Janne Larma was elected vice-chair.
