Hanken & SSE Executive Education prepares companies for the future
Hanken & SSE Opens in new window , owned by the Hanken School of Economics and Stockholm School of Economics, links the business world and academia. It is a unique educational collaboration, connecting two tertiary education institutions and individuals with global practical experience in strategic change, for the benefit of their clients.
“Our owner business schools allow us to work on a broader scale with companies operating across the globe.”
New insights and eureka moments
Hanken & SSE has an extensive range of programmes. In addition to programmes tailored for companies and management teams, a popular programme is the Executive Master of Business Administration Opens in new window , i.e., the two-year Hanken EMBA. MBA Highlights Opens in new window is a nine-day programme that refreshes your strategy, leadership, finance, sales and marketing expertise. Hanken & SSE’s offering also includes career coaching and support for outplacement and staff adjustment.
“People attending our programmes will gain new insights and experiences that they can implement in their job and help them better prepare for the future,” says Hinnenberg.
The war in Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted many organisations. The key is looking for new markets and ways of working in an increasingly digitalised hybrid world. Hanken & SSE's broad network of experts is ready to support companies with the challenges.
“We have a global network of over 500 experts that we actively draw upon, and we also engage further experts according to the customer's wishes,” says Hinnenberg.
Strong synergies
The synergies between Hanken School of Economics and Hanken & SSE are tangible. According to Kaj Storbacka, Dean at Hanken and Hanken & SSE board member, the cooperation will undergo further streamlining.
“Hanken & SSE plays a central role in bringing the expertise available at Hanken, to the business community. In return, our students gain a richer understanding of the business world and are better prepared for what awaits them once they start their career.”
The aim is to get a significant proportion of Hanken's teaching staff to lecture at Hanken & SSE.
“Lecturing at a business school and at an executive education provider differs quite dramatically. At Hanken & SSE, the need for relevance to the business world is immediate. As a researcher, you need to be able to translate your research results so that participants get concrete models and tools they can use the very moment they get back to work," Storbacka points out.
Despite inspiring upskilling programmes, it is easy to fall back into old patterns once you return to work. To avoid that, Hanken & SSE is investing heavily in the effects of its development programmes.
“We have developed a long-term model where we want answers, such as what the main insights of the programme were, what behaviours the client intends to change, and what business results the client wishes to achieve. In addition, we continuously monitor how our programmes can be adapted and managed to achieve the best results,” Marc Hinnenberg says.
Kaj Storbacka notes that Hanken & SSE's task is to educate people and try to help companies and people think outside the box.
“In the past, companies would create a strategy that would then be implemented later, but the approach now is about continuous strategising and development. At Hanken & SSE, we closely follow the companies' entire strategic development. Our task is to involve the people throughout the process.”
