Join the seminar “‘Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose’ - Consumers’ Experiences of Cocreation Challenges and Vulnerability in Complex Services” with Deirdre O’Loughlin, Professor of Marketing at the University of Limerick, Ireland. It will take place in “Futurum” on the 11th of September from 09:00 to 10:15.

Deirdre's research critically explores the intersection between marketing, consumption, vulnerability and social/public policy within a number of key contexts including debt and austerity research, family caring, and co-creation in health and financial services. Her research has high impact in several key domains in exposing the effects of austerity, credit and debt consumption, highlighting marketing and consumer responsibility, and identifying the social and public policy implications. Key research are reflected by the following: 

  • Credit and Debt Consumption. 

  • Financial Insecurity and Consumer Responses to Austerity and other Crises. 

  • Service Research and Financial Services. 

  • Value co creation in Health Services including Family Caring. 

  • Sustainability, Social Marketing and Policy, CSR and Ethics. 

  • Branding and Digital Marketing. 

  • Relationship Marketing. 

Her work is published in a range of international high-ranking journals including the Journal of Service Research, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Sociology, Social Policy and Administration, The Services Industries Journal, Journal of Marketing Management and the Journal of Consumer Marketing. She is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Bank Marketing and c-guest edited a special issue on sustainable banking practices in 2024. She also recently co-edited a book (Routledge, 2024) exploring theoretical, methodological and policy perspectives on poverty and austerity. She has visiting fellowships and lectureships with several institutions including the University of Birmingham, École de Management, Strasbourg. Athens University of Economics and Business, and Hanken Business School. She has developed close links with industry and practice.
