Hanken receives a donation of 100 000 euro from Aktia

Hanken has received a donation of 100 000 euros from Aktia Bank Plc to the ongoing fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS. Aktia wants to support the continuous development of internationally competitive and high-quality education and research.

”Science and knowledge of high level supports the growth of our economy, employment and welfare. It is important to cherish versatile and broad competence to ensure our future international competitiveness and the birth of new innovations in our country”, states Martin Backman, CEO of Aktia.

”This type of faith in Hanken means a lot and we are truly grateful for this donation. Hanken works hard to evolve and we aim to be an international, research-oriented university of high quality”, says Rector Karen Spens.

Aktia’s roots date back to 1825. Aktia has approximately 380,000 customers who are served at about 45 branch offices and via comprehensive internet and telephone services. Aktia’s shares are listed on Nasdaq Helsinki Oy and the bank is owned by Finnish Aktia foundations, savings bank foundations, institutions, companies and private individuals.

The fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS will continue until 30.6.2017 and has, with this donation included, so far raised approximately 7,9 million euro. The aim of the campaign is to secure Hanken’s unique position as Finland’s only independent business school.
