Hanken to host major conference in behavioural and experimental economics
The meeting is expected to feature more than 400 presentations by researchers in the field of behavioural and experimental economics. The event is organized by the Helsinki GSE research group “Behavioural Economics & Consumer Behaviour Opens in new window ”, which includes scientists from Hanken’s area of strength “Competition economics and service strategy Opens in new window ”.
Behavioural economics studies the effects of psychological, cognitive, emotional, cultural and social factors on economic decisions of individuals. For example, research in behavioural economics can help to understand consumer behaviour and deliver new insights about competition and consumer policy by shedding light on psychological effects of pricing.
The Economic Science Association (ESA) is an association of economists founded in 1986 in Tucson, Arizona, which focuses on experimental economic research. The association publishes several top field journals and regularly holds conferences in North America and Europe. In addition to economists, the spectrum of members also includes related areas, such as political scientists, psychologists and business economists. Notable members include Nobel laureates Elinor Ostrom, Al Roth, and Vernon L. Smith.
