The global management consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is the newest member of Hanken School of Economics’ partner programme. Ib Löfgrén, BCG's Senior Partner, emphasises the significance of the collaboration, noting that Hanken serves as a crucial recruitment base for the company.

BCG has over 100 offices in more than 50 countries, around 32,000 employees and nearly 15 billion dollars in revenue. The company, which specialises in strategy consulting, was founded in Boston in 1963 with a policy of recruiting top Harvard graduates.

“Today, of course, we recruit very broadly from universities with different programmes, but it's still about top people. We are very proud that over the past 15-20 years we have grown the most of all premium consulting companies globally, in Europe and in Finland, so we are doing something right,” says Löfgrén.

Löfgrén, a Hanken alum himself, views the collaboration with Hanken as an opportunity to stay connected with and support the university, its students, and fellow alumni.

“We have many from Hanken working with us both in Helsinki and in Stockholm and they have done extremely well. We are looking for the most motivated and brightest students, so in addition to success in your studies, you should have a broad and multifaceted understanding of the economy and society in general from an international perspective, as well as good social and leadership skills.”

Löfgrén says BCG offers a unique opportunity for ambitious students to quickly learn top-level practical business skills.

“We also have a completely global structure, which means that we act and operate seamlessly across all office boundaries. In practice, this means that I can just as easily bring in consultants from, for example, Helsinki, Berlin, New York or Tokyo for my projects. I find it hard to imagine another environment that would offer an equally steep learning curve for young professionals.”
