Hanken is among the top-ranked business schools in the Nordic region in terms of:
- Financial Times Masters in Management ranking of the world's best business schools
- The number of publications and scientific impact
Hanken is also one of the 1% of business schools worldwide that have received the three most prestigious international accreditations; AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS.
To achieve top performance, investments in the future are required. At the same time, the requirements for state funding are becoming stricter, and the financial independence of Finnish universities has increased significantly, as have the demands for financial responsibility. In this situation, private funding for universities is crucial. As the financial situation is getting tougher for all Finnish universities, Hanken needs to stand on a solid financial ground to be able to maintain its unique position as Finland’s only independent business school.
Through increased funding Hanken will focus on:
An education that prepares for global challenges
Hanken focuses on preparing students for future careers and life by developing responsible professionals to drive a sustainable future. With mandatory semesters abroad and internships, as well as support for international students, Hanken aims to create an international and inclusive educational environment. The program portfolio is continuously renewed to remain attractive and relevant, with new bachelor's and master's programs developed in collaboration with international partner universities. Hanken also emphasises close cooperation with the business community to provide students with practical experience and career opportunities.
Successful research
Hanken is a research-driven business school that strives to create new knowledge and promote a sustainable future. We aim to conduct top-tier research with strong academic and societal impact, emphasising collaboration with various stakeholders to address current challenges. Hanken works to diversify its research funding and support its academic staff by improving research conditions and fostering a vibrant research environment.
Strengthened societal engagement
Hanken aims to strengthen its societal engagement through collaboration with the business community and society, continuing education for business leaders, and support for alumni. We focus on disseminating research-based expertise, offering lifelong learning, and promoting entrepreneurship. Hanken also seeks to increase its visibility and impact both nationally and internationally, as well as support the integration of students and alumni with international backgrounds.
Sustainability and responsibility
Hanken works to achieve the UN's Global Goals for Sustainable Development by integrating sustainability and responsibility into all its activities. We offer courses and conduct research that promote sustainability, and follow principles such as PRME and the EU's Green Deal. Hanken aims to become carbon neutral by 2030 and to be a role model in diversity, equality, and inclusion. Our activities also emphasise the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and good governance.
