Posti new member of Hanken's partner programme
Posti is a nearly 400 years old company with roughly 17 000 employees. The core of Posti's activities are parcel traffic and logistics in Finland, Sweden and the Baltics and the company values are reliable, respectful and progressive. Sustainability is a key component of Postis’ business strategy. The aim is to minimize the negative impacts on the environment, people and society.
“As probably everybody knows, we have been going through a drastic transformation during the last 10 plus years where the traditional postal business has been declining. That's why, as our strategy states, we are now moving towards being a modern delivery and fulfillment company – and progressing well on that road," says Oskari Tinkanen, vice president for innovation and venturing at Posti. "To be competitive in this field also in the future, we are constantly looking for new potential future growth sources,” he continues.
Tinkanen says that Posti has a similar internal venture building programme as the Hanken Business Lab but through the partner programme, Posti hopes to bring together new teams working on current topics. Tinkanen mentions sustainable logistics, automation and digitalisation in delivery and fulfillment, e-commerce and omnichannel value chains, and transition to circular economy as central ways to create future value.
“We are looking forward to getting access to the brilliant minds also outside of the Posti Group. Furthermore, we see this cooperation both as a possibility for talent attraction and as a growth opportunity for people at Posti."
Magret Jokela, program lead for Hanken Business Lab’s pre-incubator programme the Playground, is looking forward to the collaboration. She believes it’s beneficial that Posti has already identified the themes they want to focus on.
“Hanken Business Lab and its pre-incubation program hosts a diverse range of individuals from budding entrepreneurs and newly established companies seeking to test, validate or refine their ideas. The program has also identified a growing number of participants who possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit but haven't yet settled on a specific business idea. This collaborative environment allows for a ‘best of both worlds’ scenario, where participants can leverage real-world challenges and themes established through corporate partnerships.”
