OP Uusimaa new member of Hanken's partner programme
OP Uusimaa is the largest bank in the OP Group and owned by its owner-customers. The bank has over 600,000 customers and around 1,300 employees working in banking, investment, insurance and real estate. Its values are a people-first approach, responsibility, and prospering together.
Mikanmaa says that through cooperation with Hanken, the bank wants to be present in teaching, for example through expert lectures. OP Uusimaa also wants to highlight the various career opportunities available.
“We employ over 60 summer workers every year. In addition, we are able to offer traineeships thanks to our national six-month traineeship program. Our trainees all receive a salary of €3000 per month and are assigned their own mentor. And after graduation OP Uusimaa offers wide and interesting career opportunities.
Mikanmaa recommends Hanken students to study as diversely as possible if they are interested in a career in finance.
"Diverse studies are a good way to stand out from the crowd. One of our strengths is the wide range of education among our staff. It has a positive impact on our working community and is also a competitive advantage.”
According to Mikanmaa, in addition to a genuine interest in the financial sector, you need ambition and a willingness to learn, which he says Hanken students definitely have.
"The financial sector is fascinating. It reflects the situation both in our society and in the world at large. Our industry is always affected by economic cycles and geopolitical risks and disasters. However, history has shown that we at OP Uusimaa have been prepared for different scenarios for more than 120 years and have weathered them.”
