Master's theses awarded

Former Hanken students Wilhelm Törrönen and Emilia Öfverström have received awards for their master's theses. Törrönen was honoured by the Finnish foundation Suomen arvopaperimarkkinoiden edistämissäätiö, whilst Öfverström received an award from the Finnish Association of Consumer Research.

The Finnish foundation Suomen arvopaperimarkkinoiden edistämissäätiö has awarded Wilhelm Törrönen for his master’s thesis Wonderful Businesses at Fair Prices: A Multidimensional Approach to Investing. 

In his thesis, Törrönen examines the investment performance of quality- and value-graded portfolios. The findings of the thesis show that higher-ranked quality portfolios outperform lower-ranked portfolios. The thesis was awarded the highest grade of ‘excellent’ (5/5).

Emilia Öfverström has also received an award for her master’s thesis. Öfverström’s thesis has been selected as the best master’s thesis of the year in the field of consumer studies by the Finnish Association of Consumer Research.

The thesis is entitled ‘Sociala mediers roll i ett förändrat identitetsskapande hos ungdomar” (The role of social media in changing identity formation among young people), and in it Öfverström examines how social media engagement contributes to changing identity formation, and how understanding this new consumer behaviour is highly relevant for companies in the beauty industry. The thesis was awarded the highest grade of ‘excellent’ (5/5).
