Jaakko Aspara joins Hanken as Grönroos Professor of Marketing
PhD Jaakko Aspara has been appointed Grönroos Professor of Marketing at Hanken School of Economics. His term of office begins on 1 October 2014. The professorship is named after the legendary Hanken professor Christian Grönroos. Currently, Aspara works as professor of marketing and design business management at Aalto University School of Business. Aspara also has current and prior international experience from visiting positions at New York University's Stern School of Business, Temple University's Fox School of Business, and Maastricht University's School of Business and Economics.

Professor Aspara has a Doctor of Science degree in economics and business administration from Helsinki School of Economics as well as a Doctor of Arts degree in Industrial Design from the University of the Arts in Helsinki.
Aspara is regarded as one of the leading academics in his field in the Nordic region and has a strong portfolio of high-quality research outputs. He has published in top journals of his field of research, such as Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Business Research, and Long Range Planning.
Professor Aspara's research focuses on strategic marketing, including innovations, business models, new service development and design, as well as consumer behavior and market research.
During his career, Aspara has been teaching at all academic levels from undergraduate and graduate studies to doctoral programmes. In addition, he has extensive experience of teaching within executive education programmes. He is also a board member or advisory board member in several large companies, such as Onninen Oy, HOK-Elanto, and Valio Oy, as well as in other institutions such as the Ethics Council of Market Research Industry and MARK Finnish Marketing Federation.
