Professor Pia Arenius receives a one-year research grant
Pia Arenius, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Management and Organisation has been awarded a research grant via the Foundations' Professor Pool. The purpose of the grant is to allow her to focus on research during one year.
Thanks to the Foundations’ Professor Pool, 397 professors have received an opportunity to dedicate their time to research for a full year. Foundations funded the Pool project, which ran from 2011 to 2015, with over eleven million euros.
The results of the fifth and final Professor Pool’s application round were published on 11th June 2015 when the foundations of the Pool awarded 67 professors a one-year working and travelling grant. Altogether 2.144 million euros were awarded in this round.
The Pool’s last application round truly caught professors’ attention. No fewer than 162 professors working in Finnish universities applied for a grant this time, and the applications were of a high quality. Competition for grants was, thus, increasingly tight: it was possible to give funding to only about 40% of the applicants.
The following 15 foundations made up the Foundations’ Professor Pool: The Ella and Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation, Emil Aaltonen Foundation, Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, Kaupallisten ja teknillisten tieteiden tukisäätiö – KAUTE Foundation, Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation, OP-Pohjola Groups’ Research Foundation, Orion Research Foundation, the Paulo Foundation, Finnish Cultural Foundation, The Finnish Parkinson Foundation, Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, The Society of Swedish Literature in Finland, Tauno Tönning Foundation, Yksityisyrittäjäin Säätiö (Foundation for Entrepreneurs) and the Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation.
