Professor Glynn Lunney joins Hanken as Fulbright-Hanken Distinguished Chair

Glenn Lunney
Professor Glynn Lunney from the Texas A&M University School of Law is visiting Hanken during spring 2025 as Fulbright-Hanken Distinguished Chair.

Dr. Lunney holds a joint appointment as a University Distinguished Professor at the Texas A&M University School of Law and the Dwight D. Look College of Engineering. He teaches primarily in the field of intellectual property, with a focus on the economic analysis of legal issues.

“During my stay I plan to work on my next book where I will be exploring what copyright would look like if it were truly designed to support artists and authors and ensure a vibrant ecosystem for their work in this new digital age”, Dr. Lunney explains.

Dr. Lunney is an internationally recognised scholar and has testified before Congress, federal agencies, and the European Commission on intellectual property issues. His book, Copyright’s excess: Music and money in the U.S. recording industry, presents the first comprehensive empirical examination of the relationship between copyright, money, and creative output.

"I'm excited to be joining the Hanken School of Economics faculty this spring as the Fulbright-Hanken Distinguished Chair. An important purpose of my research visit is also to develop new sources of data that can be used for empirical analysis of IP issues”, Dr. Lunney describes.

In April Glynn Lunney will speak on his research at a seminar at Hanken.
Seminar date and time: 24.4 at 4 p.m.
Venue: Lilla Hangö

The seminar will be held in English. It is open to Hanken alumni, students, staff and corporate partners. We will serve savoury canapés before the seminar starts. Read more about the seminar: Fulbright seminar - Copyright, Compensation and Creativity
