Hanken and University of Helsinki launch joint research centre in Corporate Responsibility

The aim of the Centre for Corporate Responsibility (CCR) is to enhance collaborative and cross-disciplinary research on the interactions between business, politics and society. CCR also promotes socially, economically and environmentally sustainable development of Finnish businesses through high-quality research in close cooperation with firms, non-governmental organisations, and research institutions.

- CCR is a new stepping-stone for Hanken’s ongoing strategic efforts to promote social responsibility in business in both research and teaching. Hanken is already internationally recognised for these efforts, as its commitment to and position within the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) demonstrates, says Hanken’s Rector Karen Spens.

The centre will serve as an open platform for research collaboration between researchers from Hanken and the University of Helsinki, bringing together the strengths of both parties.

- CCR will also engage a large number of stakeholders in order to achieve one of our primary aims, which is promoting and developing research with high societal impact, relevance and accessibility to its stakeholders, says the Director of the centre, Nikodemus Solitander.

– CCR complements the University of Helsinki’s commitment to promoting transformations of societies toward sustainability, by enabling a better understanding of the role of business and politics in these transformations. It also broadens the international networks of both universities and facilitates highly cross-disciplinary research with strong societal impact, says Rector Jukka Kola from the University of Helsinki.
