David B. Grant new Dean of Research at Hanken
Grant has been working for Hanken since 2015, and since 2018 been a full-time professor at the School.
“I am honoured and privileged to serve as Hanken’s new Dean of Research and Social Impact. I intend to continue the great work of my predecessors and my own personal focus will be on ensuring various impacts of Hanken’s research in the academic, corporate and social domains inter alia is widely disseminated to all Hanken’s stakeholders in Finland and internationally.”
Grant’s research interests include customer service, satisfaction, and service quality, retail logistics, reverse and sustainable logistics, and humanitarian and societal logistics. He has over 250 publications in various refereed journals, books and conference proceedings and is on the editorial board of many international journals. Two of his co-authored books, Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Fashion Logistics are now in their second editions.
Previously, Grant’s appointments include the Universities of Calgary in Canada, Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt Universities in Scotland, and Hull in England. His senior administrative roles include research institute directorship and associate deanship. Grant has considerable experience writing and leading funded research and in supervising and examining PhD students.
The Board also prolonged the mandate of the Dean of Education and rector's representative in Vaasa, Sören Kock (until 31.9.2023), and the Dean of Executive Education and Corporate Relations, Anders Löflund (until 31.7.2021).
