The artwork Growth unveiled at Hanken: "Can be seen as a symbol for the students ambition to move forward”
The artwork, created in 1964, was acquired by the Savings Bank of Helsinki and adorned the wall in the bank hall on Mannerheimintie for a long time. When Aktia rented out some of its space, guests at a Thai restaurant could admire Tukiainen's artwork instead.
In connection with Aktia's move to Arkadiankatu 2, it was thought that the artwork would come into its own in Hanken's spaces, so Aktia made a request for a deposit with Hanken.
- We thank Aktia who makes it possible for us at Hanken to now have this fine work of art. The work's name “Growth” is also appropriate. For me it symbolizes not only how Hanken has grown in size but also how Hanken has developed into a respected international business school, states Hanken's rector Karen Spens.
- We at Aktia are very happy and proud to consign Aimo Tukiainens powerful sculpture at Hanken. Not only that the artwork now after an exciting journey has found its deserving place, it can also be seen as a symbol for the students ambition to move forward, says Aktias CEO Mikko Ayub.
Aimo Tukiainen has also designed the Equestrian statue of Marshal Mannerheim and the fountain sculpture "Liikevoitto" that is located at Aalto University in Töölö.
