During this edition of Hanken Insights, we will discuss the current state of the Nordic labour market and how it is shaped and impacted by technological and structural changes. We will also discuss the role of business schools in ensuring that graduates meet the changing needs of employers. Speakers include Juhana Vartianen (Professor of Practice, Hanken), Sofia Bougt-Hernnäs (Assistant Professor of Economics, Hanken) and Lari Hintsanen (CEO, Country Managing Partner Deloitte Finland). The seminar will be held in English. The event is free of charge, but registration is required.

Juhana Vartiainen

Juhana Vartiainen 

Juhana Vartiainen is a former mayor of Helsinki and previous director general of the VATT Institute for Economic Research and member of parliament from 2015 to 2021. Vartiainen has also served as director of research at the National Institute of Economic Research (Konjunkturinstitutet) in Sweden. He holds a doctorate in economics and has an extensive research background, including at the Labour Institute for Economic Research and the University of Helsinki.


Sofia Bougt Hernnäs

Sofia Bougt-Hernnäs

Sofia Bougt-Hernnäs is an Assistant Professor of Economics whose research examines how technological change reshapes occupations and workers' employment prospects, earnings, and health. She is also affiliated with Helsinki Graduate School of Economics and Stockholm School of Economics.


Lari Hintsanen

Lari Hintsanen

Lari Hintsanen is the Country Managing Partner of Deloitte Finland. Deloitte's report ¨From the experience gap to a leap in learning¨ examines why many countries and organizations—Finland serving as a key example—face a widening experience gap between the current education system and the needs of the changing labour market.
