Helsinki
The Capital region
Helsinki makes up the Capital region (finnish: pääkaupunkiseutu) together with the municipalities Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen. Approximately 1.1 million people live here. Commuting to Helsinki from anywhere in the capital region is easy, as our public transportation system is one of the best in the world! In fact, many Finns prefer to live outside the city centre where prices for accommodation is generally lower and nature even closer.
