If you have completed the Finnish Matriculation Examination in 1990 or later, you don’t need to upload your certificate. We can access your results electronically directly from the national register.

A Reifeprüfung or Deutches Internationales Abitur that has been completed outside Finland does not give you points in the certificate-based admission. If you have also completed a Finnish Matriculation Examination, or a corresponding degree, please add it to your application form to be able to be considered in the certificate-based admission. To get admission points for your certificates you must submit your certificates according to the instructions on this page.

Upload the following certificate to your application:
- A scanned copy of your final degree certificate/leaving certificate including the full name of the school and contact information (address, e-mail, and website).

If you are admitted, your admission is conditional. If you are conditionally accepted, you will receive more information about how to submit attachments in connection with receiving your admission offer.
Please note that if you are accepted and must submit officially certified copies of your documents in connection with accepting the study offer, you must also consider that there are country-specific requirements that apply for degrees completed in certain countries. You may also be able to use electronic verification services to certify the documents.
Contact Hanken’s Admissions Services at admissions@hanken.fi to find out what requirements apply for your degree.
Translations of educational documents
If your educational documents are issued in a language other than English, Finnish or Swedish, you are required to get the documents officially translated into one of these languages.
An official translation must be one of the following:
- Issued by the awarding institution.
- An officially certified copy of a translation issued by the awarding institution.
- Translated by an official translator (original document).
- An officially certified copy of a translation made by an official translator.
Each page of an official translation must bear the translator’s stamp and/or signature. Official translations must be exact translations of the original documents. Translations done by the applicant themself are not accepted.
Refugees or applicants with comparable status
If you are a refugee or asylum seeker or have a refugee-like status in Finland and therefore cannot prove your eligibility for higher education by documentation, you can still apply for admission.
You are required to provide us with a reliable explanation of the qualification that gives you eligibility to apply, additional information on the lack of requisite documentation as well as an official decision on your refugee status (decision on being granted asylum or a residence permit based on the need for international protection or a certificate of a pending application for asylum). You must submit a copy of this decision to the Admission Services before the deadline for submitting application attachments and apply like all other applicants and prove that you fulfill the language requirement for admission and attend the required tests.
Hanken can also request the applicant to attend an entrance exam or the like. The university will determine the applicant’s eligibility based on the additional information provided by the applicant.
