My current research activities are within the field of corporate finance. I am especially interested in the interaction between investment and financing decisions. Broadly, my covered research areas fall within mergers and acquisitions, capital structure and corporate governance. Prior research interests also include investments, portfolio management and asset pricing as well as corporate dividend policy and corporate valuation. In my recent research I have especially focused on empirical testing of strategic capital structure adjustments which precede upcoming mergers and acquisitions (published with co-authors in the Journal of Corporate Finance 2022). My ongoing research projects within corporate governance investigate how shareholder board voting reflects the perceived value of upcoming directors’ political connections of the electable directors.
I acted as the head of department of Financial Economics and Statistics in the years 2010-2019, as the Dean of Executive Education and Corporate Relations in 2019-2021, and as Hanken’s QTEM Dean from 2020 onwards.
