Theresia Harrer is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Accounting Finance and Governance within the Department of Accounting and Business Law in Helsinki. She investigates the societal implications of sustainability reporting and the role of societal values in investment decision-making. In her PhD she specifically focused on trust and legitimacy dynamics in alternative financing instruments such as impact investing and crowdfunding. She has also contributed to various research projects investigating the relevance and effects of sustainability reporting for Cleantech ventures. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Applied Accounting Research and Venture Capital: An International Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance.
Theresia has an academic background in accounting and finance as well as entrepreneurship, and her work lies at the intersection of those fields and organisation theory. She received her PhD from Middlesex University London which she completed as part of the Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity at the University of Surrey. She has also held research and teaching positions in Germany and Austria.
