PhD Programme in Accounting
As a PhD student within the major Accounting at Hanken you have excellent support for conducting research in:
- Financial Accounting,
- Sustainable Investing and ESG
- Corporate Governance and
- Auditing.
The programme prepares you both for an academic career and analytical or managing positions on the international job market.
Networks, Courses and Resources
As a PhD student with us you have access to a broad range of courses, conferences and workshops both in Finland and abroad. You also have full access to an extensive set of national and international financial databases.
Our major is affiliated with KATAJA, the Graduate School of Accounting and the Nordic Accounting Research Network. You are also encouraged and financially supported to participate and present your work in international conferences.
The coursework (60 ECTS) typically consists of courses in Accounting, Statistics and Econometrics, and takes approximately one year to complete. Normally, students graduate within 4-5 years of full time studies.
While the focus of the studies is on research, we also give you the opportunity to engage in teaching activities, where you can challenge, inspire and motivate our brightest BSc and MSc students.
