Research database Haris

Haris (Hanken Research Information System) is Hanken’s research database that collects Hanken’s research outputs and intellectual resources. Haris is used to report your research merits and describe your research areas.

Haris - Hanken's Research Portal Opens in new window pulls data from the Haris database and gives a comprehensive overall picture of the research conducted at Hanken. It is also integrated with researchers’ personal Hanken webpages.

All the publications from the research conducted at Hanken and externally funded projects need to be registered in Haris. In addition, you can also register activities, prizes, press/media, and datasets in Haris.

Information registered in Haris is used both for external reporting (Ministry of Education and Culture, accreditations) and for internal allocation of resources and Publication Rewards Opens in new window .

Research data management (RDM)

Research data management (RDM) means organization, description, storage, and sharing of data collected and used in a research project. Effective and responsible RDM is an integral part and essential requirement of good scientific practices and research skills.

Follow the flowcharts or stages outlined in Data management processes at Hanken Opens in new window in the LibGuide on RDM to complete your various RDM tasks throughout the data lifecycle. Note that there are two different data management processes with different instructions and templates for BSc/MSc/eMBA students Opens in new window and for researchers and PhD students Opens in new window , respectively.

If you collect and process personal data for your studies, thesis, and research, follow the eight procedures in the Guidelines and procedures of personal data processing in research and studies at Hanken in the LibGuide on Research data management (RDM) to maintain high ethical standards and comply with data protection laws.

Research data and related published research results produced at Hanken are made openly available for shared use:

Properly documented metadata of research data are published for the findability and reproducibility of the research data. It is recommended to use Fairdata Qvain metadata tool Opens in new window to describe and publish your (meta)data.
Research data are to be archived and opened in national or international repositories when possible.
Datasets are registered in Hanken's research database - Haris Opens in new window with the persistent identifiers (PIDs, e.g., DOI and URN) for your metadata (for example, from Qvain) and/or for your datasets in the repository where you have stored or published your datasets.

It improves the visibility and impact of your research outputs and educational resources, increases the transparency and reliability of scientific research, both empowers and democratizes science.
